Biking holiday on lake maggiore

Discover the diversity of Lake Maggiore in an original way. Biking along the scenic paths is the best way to enjoy the beauty of this area.

Other than the breathtaking views, the lake offers many activities and unique experiences, both cultural as well as culinary.

Day 1: Arrival and check-in at the hotel and dinner.

Day 2: River Toce Cycle Route
We start off easy biking across the Natural Reserve of Fondotoce, the last marsh of the lake which departes Lake Maggiore and Lake Mergozzo.
We will cross the natural reserve of the Toce River, the largest natural marshland area on Lake Maggiore, cycling along the banks of the river along the Toce cycle route we reach Domodossola. 
Domodossola is the heart of the Ossola, an ancient crossroads of cultures and trade. Not to be missed is its ancient centre, with historic buildings, arcades and the famous Piazza Mercato (market square).
Length of route: approx. 50km - Height difference: approx. 150m.

Day 3: the Novara Hills
Departure from the lake and crossing over the upper Vergante area to the splendid Lake Orta. We then proceed to the Novara hills, famous to produce excellent wines. We pedal through the vineyards, discovering the wine heritage of this area, best known for the cultivation and vinification of Nebbiolo grapes.  We end the day with a wine tasting in one of the local wine cellars.
Length of route: 60 km - Height difference: +910m - 890m

Day 4: The natural park of the Ticino River
Today we will cycle to discover the Ticino River Natural Park, a natural oasis of 20,500 hectares and more than 750 km of trails, which can be explored on foot or by bike.
The park stretches from Lake Maggiore to the confluence with the river Po, in 47 towns in the provinces of Varese, Milan and Pavia.
In 2002 it was recognised by UNESCO as a Biosphere Reserve, for the incredible natural landscape, historical and cultural heritage it offers. A flat route, a peaceful ride along the river.
Length of route: 60 km - Height difference: 385m/476 m

Day 5: Lake Orta
Today a beautiful ride around Lake Orta awaits us. Starting from Omegna, we climb towards Brolo, then descend towards Pella and Gozzano.
We arrive in Orta San Giulio, a small medieval village listed as one of the 'Most Beautiful Villages in Italy', characterised by its ancient frescoed houses, narrow medieval alleys and lakeside square. Directly opposite Orta is the island of San Giulio, which is home to a majestic basilica and a convent of cloistered nuns. 
Route length: approx. 42 km - Height difference: approx. 500 m

Day 6: After breakfast, return home.

Possibility to rent the bike directly on Lake Maggiore.
